Lavery Leads All Laps, Wins at Oswego

Pat Lavery, Dalton Doyle Score Spring Championship Victories at Oswego Speedway

Sitterly Favorite to Win Spring Championship at Oswego

Oswego Speedway Spring Championship Could be Otto Sitterly’s Third Win in a Row

OSWEGO, NY (May 28, 2015) – Oswego Speedway’s Spring Championship is set for Saturday, May 30  with Otto Sitterly leading the way in the early Road to the Championship standings.

Saturday’s Spring Championship, presented by Best Western PLUS/Quality Inn and Suites Riverfront, will mark the third event of the 2015 regular season schedule with racing beginning at 6:30 p.m.

In the Novelis Supermodified division, seven-time champion Sitterly has been the class of the field, winning back to back main events to start the season giving him 32 career wins at the Port City oval.

Sitterly outgunned Bob Bond and Joe Gosek on opening night and just one week ago started from the twelfth and final row to claim his seventh career Jim Shampine Memorial over Brian Sobus and Bond.

With his two victories, Sitterly holds a nine-point edge over Bond as he continues to strive for his historical record breaking eighth supermodified championship at Oswego.

No driver has won the first three events of a Novelis Supermodified season since Sitterly himself won the first four races of the 2010 season.

Before Sitterly in 2010 – Art Bennett (1962), Kenny Andrews (1969), Jim Shampine (1974), Doug Heveron (1982), and Bentley Warren (1987) all won the first three supermodified events of the Oswego season.

Bond is the only other driver in the division with top five finishes in the first two races of the season.

Kody Graham, Dave Danzer, and Jeff Abold round out the current top five in the supermodified driver’s standings.

Sobus, Keith Shampine, Dave Gruel, Shaun Gosselin, and Gosek hold top ten spots in the point standings just two weeks into the season with the Spring Championship on the horizon.

The Best Western PLUS/Quality Inn and Suites Riverfront Spring Championship will see pit gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday with hot laps beginning and grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m.  Heat racing will go off at 6:30 p.m.

General admission seating for Saturday is just $15 with reserved seating set at $20.

Kids 16 and under with paid adult are free and as always, we honor those serving our country with free admission for all active military with I.D.
