Jon Henes leads AJ Lesiecki by One Point Heading into Midwest Supermodified Association Finale at Sandusky
Sandusky, OH – September 14, 2015…Jon Henes and AJ Lesiecki have both had career-defining seasons during 2015. However, the crowning accomplishment of either driver’s career will be decided this Saturday, September 19th, as both drivers have a shot at their first career Midwest Supermodified Association title.
Henes in the Perfection Fabricators/Michelle’s Café #36 may have a small point lead, but as illustrated by Charlie Schultz’ and Jim Paller’s misfortunes dropping them from slim point leads to non-contention during the last two races, no driver is safe until that checkered flag falls on the thirty lap feature event.
Henes has two feature wins at the Sandusky Speedway while Lesiecki lacks a feature win to his credit at the famed half-mile, but recently scored his first ever supermodified feature win in the rescheduled MSA “Fastest Short Track Show in the World” at Toledo Speedway. Both drivers have an average finish of third at Sandusky between the two races contested last month with Henes winning the most recent Sandusky Speedway supermodified event.
Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks will also host championship defining events on Saturday night. Kenny Sharp has locked up the modified title while Kelly Lille has done the same in Hobby Stock action. Jerry Karl and Rich Clingan fight for the title in the Ohio Stock division while Logan Cooper and Collin Penn continue a heated contest in the Street Stock division.
Pits open at three with hot laps at four. Qualifications set to begin at 5:30 will set the stage for the racing action that is set to begin at seven.
