Many times racers come to me saying they are frustrated because their sponsors are leaving them or they left for another driver or team or even the track itself.  Has this ever happened to you?

This actually comes down to how your relationship is geared and built with the sponsor from the beginning.

Have you ever had a personal relationship that should have been more businesslike and a business relationship that should have been more personal? How do you know what boundaries you should keep in either relationship before it gets to a point of no return? Even worse, they leave you for another situation or the entire thing ends badly? Have you been there?

To keep this from happening, it comes with knowing yourself first. The way you do business should be “you” authentically. So any business and sponsorship connections you make from the beginning, the other person sees that this is how you truly are both professionally and personally – no hidden surprises – and that you are consistent with this being the way you do business and how you treat your sponsors.

You are either a “personal relationship” person in business or you are not right from the get go. That way the other person who is working with you or is looking to work with you knows what to expect – and you only attract these type of people who want to do business with your authentic self (who you really are personally). Powerful long term business and sponsor relationships are built this way because they “fit” from the beginning.

Ask yourself; “How do I want to do business? How do I want to be perceived as a business person? What messages am I sending out with my marketing and showing how I deal with my current business and sponsor relationships? What kind of business and sponsor relationships do I want to attract?”

Know thyself and SHOW thyself and you will attract the perfect partnerships in both business and life.
