Supermodified Racers,

Are you ready to advance your racing career?

You all know I love my supermodifieds and so often it frustrates me to hear supermodified racers say, “My days of getting to the next level are over.” Well, what if I told you that you are only limited by the skills you want to learn and that even if you don’t want to move to the “next level” that there are ways for you to be a better fit for sponsors that can help you excel at the level you are at?

Hear me out. I’m not a psychic, (although being a mom, I have learned ways to expect things my daughter or husband are about to do), but I have been around racing long enough to understand what many of you supermodified racers are facing.

Let me take a stab at it: You are an established up and coming race driver and have started to create a brand for yourself.  You have a few decent sponsors and you have some racing money, but you want to expand your marketing, brand and leverage your relationships into bigger sponsorships. You want to create more powerful business and sponsor relationships and get in front of more influential people in the sport. You are ready to advance your race career, (and that may not mean going to NASCAR or IndyCar, many times it simply means being able to buy tires and fuel to race your supermodified regularly), and expand your sponsor attraction but need some serious strategies, packaging and leverage. Typically, your budget starts around $100k or more for your racing per year.

Who You Are

 You’re serious about your racing, there is some marketing in place, you have an established a social media presence, you are beginning to get attention from the media and schedule networking events. You are a high achiever, but you struggle with filling your schedule with quality sponsorship meetings and there seems to be a yo-yo effect in the advancement of  your racing career. As a result, you are feeling burnt-out, frustrated and you probably feel like you’re not doing anything worth-while and not getting any long-term plans accomplished.

What Your Challenges Tend to Be

 Although your racing career is starting to show some promise  and you’re attracting some sponsors, you’re working a lot; you’re tired and overwhelmed because you’re not making the progress you would like. Your stress level is pretty high and it’s likely that you aren’t making the most out of your marketing. You’re not leveraging  relationships you have built-in your racing career because you don’t have the right tools and strategies to help you. In fact, without you, the race team wouldn’t have any sponsors because you’re trading “dollars-for-decals,” sometimes working long into the night on your marketing. At this point, you’ve reached a yellow flag: it feels like the only way to get your racing career to the next level in the timing you want it to be is by accepting much smaller sponsors than you deserve.

 What You Need Most Right Now

It’s time to change how you leverage the brand you have already built and start making the most of your marketing. Your focus needs to be on reducing overwhelm and creating plans and strategy that will attract quality sponsors. Leverage and attraction will be key at this point in your racing career. You must advance your racing career  by leveraging the relationships you have built, concentrate more of your effort and time in your unique marketing plans including the use of  simple technology to take your marketing on the road with you. It’s time for you to create a model for your  racing and marketing that will allow you to do this easily on the fly. While still effectively up-leveling your racing career. This is so you can bypass the inevitable burnout headed your way if you continue at this pace. Then, shift your focus to creating and leveraging more ways to use your brand and marketing value to make more money with your racing and be able to manage it all easily.
