Sitterly Banks the Big Bucks at Oswego Speedway

OSWEGO, NY (September 3, 2014) – After the dust settled from another Budweiser International Classic 200, which saw Otto Sitterly grace victory lane for the fourth time in six years, the heralded supermodified driver from Canajoharie, NY walked away from the “Home of the Supermodifieds” clearing over $25,000 in purse and contingency prizes.

Beyond the $15,000 pay-day that comes with the International Classic trophy and title of Classic champion, Sitterly netted over $4,000 in lap money on his way to victory lane.

The lap money prizes included a $1,000 bonus for leading laps 81 and 122 in memory of Tom & Gail Heveron posted by Doug & Sherry Heveron.

With nearly $20,000 in cash coming Sitterly’s way, another $6,000 in contingencies and prizes were also awarded including the beautiful JP Jewelers International Classic Champion’s ring and the hefty Budweiser Champion’s trophy from JB Sign Co.

Sunday’s victory for Sitterly adds to his wins in 2009, 2011, and 2012, making Sitterly the only four-time champion in the 58 year history of the Budweiser International Classic.

The win pushes Sitterly ahead of three-time Classic champions Jim Shampine and Joe Gosek, trailing only five-time champion Eddie Bellinger Jr. and six-time champions Nolan Swift, Bentley Warren, and Greg Furlong.

Sitterly’s victory in the 58th running of the Classic will also go down in history as the longest International Classic ever run in terms of laps completed, with 209 showing on the board at race’s end.  The second longest Classic was contended in 2009, with 207 completed laps, also won by Sitterly.

Sitterly will return to the track on Sunday, September 14 in search of his seventh Oswego Speedway supermodified track championship as a part of SUNOCO Race of Champions Weekend.
