July 26, 2014 – Sandusky, OHThe second night of the 37th Annual Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals at Sandusky Speedway, Sat. July 26,2014 was like a repeat of the Friday Night Fast 40 show, only the rain delay wasn’t quite as long, and the Supermodifieds were able to get their heat races and thirty seven laps of the 100 lap feature in before the rain returned to wreak havoc.

The 37th Annual 100 lap  Hy-Miler Nationals Supermodified feature was up first and twenty eight Supermodifieds took the green flag with Jeff Locke and Lou Cicconi making up the front row. Locke led from the pole followed by Cicconi, Bobby Santos, Trent Stephens and Ben Seitz. The caution flag was out on lap two for Kevin Jaycox Jr’s. spin in turn two. Locke led the restart and was already lapping cars when the next caution flag waved on lap nineteen when Alison Cumens spun in turn two. Cicconi took the lead as Moe Lilje took to the outside groove and advanced into the top five.

Cicconi had nearly a  half straightaway lead until the caution flag came out on lap thirty six when Ed Witkum Jr. pulled  off on the front straight. One lap later, the rain began at 9:38 p.m. and the race was red flagged with thirty seven laps in.

When the rain stopped and the track drying began, the track was deemed race ready and the Top Speed Modifieds ran their feature which was shortened from fifty laps to twenty five laps after twelve thirty in the morning. Tyler Shullick won over Travis Eddy.

The ISMA upermodified 100 lap feature resumed with thirty seven laps scored at 1:06 a.m. Cicconi led with Mike Lichty, who started ninth, was up to fifth before the halfway mark. At the halfway mark it was Cicconi,, Lichty, Santos, Lilje and Shullick Jr. Lichty looked to be ready to make his move for the lead when he came to a stop in turn two on lap sixty four, out of the race.

The line up for the restart was Cicconi, Santos, Lilje, Shullick Jr. and Locke. Dave Shullick Jr. advanced to second on lap eighthy one and gave chase to Cicconi. With five laps to go Lilje and Shullick Jr. were in a battle for second with Lilje getting the position. Cicconi would take the checkered flag as he and Lilje both spun in turn one on the cool down lap.
