Seitz Holds off Shullick to Win After 4 Hour Rain Delay

July 25, 2014 – Sandusky, OH…The second night of the 37th Annual Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals at Sandusky Speedway on Fri. July 25,2014 saw Dave Shullick Jr. top the Supermodified field in qualifying with a fast time of 14.326. Tyler Shullick was the fast qualifier in The Ghostly Manor Thrill Center Modifieds.
The Modified division was able to get all of their heat races in. The Supermodifieds were on the track for the first of three heat races when the rain started at 8:29 p.m. After almost four hours for the rain delay and track drying process, racing resumed. There were no Supermodified heat races, just their 40 lap feature and the Modified feature was shortened to 25 laps when racing resumed after midnight.
The Modified feature saw Kenny Phillips driving the Dave Beverly Modified lead from the pole and open up a six car length lead before the first of six caution flags would appear on lap six. On the restart Travis Eddy took the lead. The race was red flagged on lap fifteen when Norm Taylor rolled off turn one, destroying the car. Taylor was not injured. On the restart Eddy continued to lead and held off Matt Marlowe to take the checkered flag.
The Supermodified Fast 40 Feature saw twenty-eight Supermodifieds take the green flag with Jeff Locke leading from the outside pole. Locke was already lapping cars before the race reached double digits. The caution flag was out on lap eighteen when Kevin Jaycox Jr. spun in turn three. On the restart Ben Seitz took the lead followed by Locke, Rob Summers, Lou Cicconi and Trent Stephens. Seitz held off the hard charging
Dave Shullick Jr. to take the checkered flag.
