OSWEGO, NY (June 4, 2014) – Oswego Speedway is proud to join the Oswego Bicycle Rodeo presented by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board, to be held on Friday, June 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the East Fire Station in Oswego.
The Oswego Bicycle Rodeo is a safety initiative emphasizing the use of helmets, while teaching kids how to stay safe on their bikes. The Oswego County Traffic Board, Oswego Fire and Police Departments are working together to manage the event, which will see young participants guided through a cone course at a slow pace in a safe, controlled environment to help teach bicycle safety.
Participants must bring their own bike, and free helmets will be given away to those in need and the event will be held rain or shine.
While bicycle safety will be the key initiative of the Rodeo, there will also be several activities taking place.
Oswego Speedway will be a prime focus of the evening with the race cars of Supermodified driver Tim Snyder and Small Block Super driver Camden Proud.
Joining the display will be the Oswego Speedway Burritt Motors Chevrolet Silverado Pace Truck.
The Speedway and Chris Nelson’s State Farm Insurance are also sponsoring a chance for anyone under the age of 18, who completes the safety course, to win one of three brand new TREK bicycles.
Murdocks will be on hand to offer free bike check-ups and there will also be Karate demonstrations by Performance Fitness and face painting for the kids.
