Sandusky Speedway has a block buster racing program this weekend as the Main Event XXVI is about to take place. The Great Lakes Helicopter Main Event Racing Series (MERS) Super Late Models will have a 100 lap feature race tomorrow that pays $10,000 to the winner. The entry list for the MERS is already up to 49 of the outlaw bodied Super Late Models that are more than ready to battle it out on the half mile oval.
The Adkins Glass Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) Supermodifieds will have a 40 lap feature tomorrow that pays $2,000 to the winner. There are close to 20 Supermodifieds expected for the MSA 2013 season finale. The Modifieds will also be a part of Main Event XXVI and will run a 40 lap feature paying $2,000 to win. The Front Wheel Drive Cars will provide even more excitement to Main Event XXVI with their feature race that will pay $1,000 to the winner.
There will also be a blind draw for the MERS with one lucky fan getting $1,000. The MSA will have three blind draws of $250 each to be drawn after their feature race.
The pit gate opens at 9 a.m. today with practice from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Qualifying is at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 tonight and will feature heat races for all divisions. The Front Wheel Drive cars will run heat races and a feature race tonight. Adult admission is $15, $13 Seniors, $7 children ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger and $40 for a pit pass.
On Sun. the pit gate opens at 9:30 a.m. The practice sessions will run from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with racing getting started at 1:30 p.m. with last chance and feature racing. Adult admission is $25, $23 for Seniors, $7 for children ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger, $40 for a pit pass. A two day (Sat. & Sun.) pit pass is $65.
Due to Main Event XXVI the polls for the Fan Driver of The Year will be extended until Mon. Oct. 14. Fans can vote for their favorite top three drivers.
